Is Ipswich a good place to live?

If you’ve been wondering, “is Ipswich a good place to live?”, you’re not the only one!

When my husband first suggested moving to Ipswich I was a nervous wreck, all I could think about was a certain scene from the film ‘Law Abiding Citizen.’ Sure our one bedroom apartment was tiny and becoming more claustrophobic with a toddler who has more energy than Tazzie Devil, but I was sure we could make room somewhere right?

To the surprise of absolutely no one we in fact couldn’t and we also wanted to expand our small family. So extensive research began and with the help of Crime Map of Australia, we discovered Ipswich, and I had to say I was impressed.

Close to the city

Ipswich is just 40 kilometers from Brisbane and gives you the best of both worlds—city life and quiet suburbs.

Getting to Brisbane or nearby cities is easy with lots of public transport, like trains (Hoorah for 50¢ fares!) and big roads like the Ipswich Motorway. Of course, traffic can slow things down, but overall, commuting isn’t too hard.

That’s why Ipswich is a great choice for people who work in the city but want a calmer, more affordable place to live.

More Affordable Homes

Ipswich has cheaper houses than Brisbane and other big cities in Queensland, so it’s a great place for first-time buyers, families, and investors.

There are many different types of homes to choose from, like classic Queenslander houses, modern townhouses, and big family homes.

Living costs in Ipswich are also lower than in Brisbane, so people can enjoy a good life without spending too much money. Even though it’s more affordable, Ipswich still has great local businesses and a strong, friendly community, making it a great place to live without overspending.

Great Schools and Learning Options

For families with kids, finding good schools is really important.

Ipswich has lots of well-established schools, both public and private, for kids of all ages. Some of these schools are among the best in Queensland, making it a great place for learning and education.

Lots of Parks and Fun Activities

If you love being outdoors or just want a nice place to relax, Ipswich has plenty of parks and nature spots to enjoy.

There are many places to walk, bike, have a picnic, or just unwind. One of the best spots is Queens Park, one of the oldest parks in Queensland. It has walking trails, playgrounds, and even a mini zoo – perfect for families and nature lovers.

Other great outdoor places include Limestone Park and White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate, where you can go hiking, bird watching, or mountain biking.

If you prefer indoor activities, Ipswich has modern sports centers, swimming pools, and fitness classes. The city also hosts lots of events and festivals, so there’s always something fun happening.
